How to create a route on Strava from a GPX file
Strava's route builder is handy, but it can't generate a loop of a set distance for you. Build one in LoopMaker, export a GPX, and import it into Strava as a route.
1. Export the GPX
Generate a route, then tap ↓ GPX. On a computer it downloads a .gpx file; on a phone it opens the share sheet (choose Save to Files if you want to upload it later).
2. Import it into Strava
On the web (easiest)
- Go to strava.com and sign in.
- Open Maps → My Routes (or the Routes page).
- Choose Create route from GPX / Upload GPX and select your file.
- Save the route — it's now in your Strava routes and can be sent to a compatible device or the Strava mobile app.
On the mobile app
Open the Maps tab → Routes → the ⊕ / upload option → Import, and pick the GPX you saved to Files.
A Strava subscription is required for some route features; a basic GPX import to view and follow a route generally works on the free tier, but Strava's plans change — check your account if an option is missing.
